If the Fire is magical, you can make a Contesting Skill Roll vs the Magic of the original Caster.

You see the flames shrink, twisting inward as your rite takes hold. Their edges flicker unnaturally, resisting, but the fire’s glow dims, crackling as if pulled by an invisible force against its magical origin.
