Bonds serve as powerful motivations that drive a character's actions and decisions, often leading them to go to great lengths to protect, reclaim, or preserve the object of their bond. These connections can be sentimental, personal, or even aspirational, and they add significant depth and emotional resonance to a character's backstory and role in the narrative.

  • Lost Love The character is bound to a lost love or a missing family member. They are driven by a longing to find and reunite with this person, and their adventures may be influenced by the pursuit of this bond.
  • Oath of Vengeance The character is bonded by a solemn oath to seek vengeance against a specific individual, organization, or force that has wronged them or someone they deeply cared about.
  • Guardian of a Sacred Artifact This character is entrusted with the protection and preservation of a powerful, magical artifact. They may be on a quest to keep it out of the wrong hands or to return it to its rightful place.
  • Loyalty to a Leader The character is fiercely loyal to a particular leader, whether it's a king, queen, tribal chief, or a mentor figure. They will follow their leader's commands and protect them at any cost.
  • Protector of a Sacred Place The character is bonded to a specific location, such as an ancient temple, a sacred grove, or a mystical portal. They see it as their duty to safeguard this place from any harm or exploitation.
  • Sibling Bond The character's primary motivation is to protect and support their sibling or close family member. They might venture into dangerous situations to ensure their loved one's safety and well-being.
  • Reclaiming a Stolen Heirloom The character is determined to reclaim a treasured heirloom or possession that was stolen from them or their family. Their journey revolves around retrieving this significant item.
  • Debts of Honor The character owes a life debt or a great favor to someone, and they are committed to repaying it, even if it means putting themselves in peril.
  • Faithful to a Deity This character is devoted to a particular deity or religious figure. Their actions are guided by their faith, and they may embark on quests or missions that align with their religious beliefs.
  • Preserving a Dying Tradition The character is dedicated to preserving a dying tradition, skill, or knowledge. They feel a responsibility to keep this legacy alive, even if it means going against prevailing trends or beliefs.
