Warlocks are bestowed special 
Gifts from their Patron, a powerful entity that needs something from the 
Warlock.
In exchange for the Warlock serving the Patron's need(s), the Patron awards the Warlock with Gifts. These Gifts often allow the Warlock to use powerful 
Magic only usable by the Warlock called 
Curses.
Gifts are usually gained from marking a 
Dying creature from 
Curse of Sacrifice, or converting other creatures to the faith of the Patron.
