Lair

Deep within the rotting halls of an abandoned mansion on the city’s outskirts, where unwanted toys are discarded and left to gather dust, lies the Doll Maker’s domain. The walls sag under the weight of cobwebs and dust-choked curtains. Piles of broken playthings, cracked porcelain faces, and splintered wooden limbs clutter every corner. The air is thick with the scent of mildew and faintly sweet varnish, masking the metallic tang of oil and something far more unsettling.

The Doll Maker

  1. Appearance: A towering, multi-armed puppet stitched from mismatched fabrics and reinforced with brass joints. Its face is an ever-fixed porcelain mask, hair made of frayed doll wigs sewn together. Each of its elongated arms ends in a different tool—giant needles, pincers, scissors, clamps—ready to snatch, stitch, or carve.
  2. Role: The Doll Maker is the heart and mind of the mansion. It works without rest, tirelessly piecing together new dolls from the scraps of toys left behind by careless owners. Its craftsmanship is unnervingly precise, but its creations carry something more than thread and glue—they are imbued with bitter, restless life.
  3. Mindset: Once it longed for its children to be loved again, believing that each creation deserved a home. But the day a small doll ventured out to meet a girl who resembled its former owner—only to be smashed by frightened townsfolk—something inside the Doll Maker fractured. Compassion was replaced by cold, festering resentment.

Possessed Dolls

  1. Appearance: They vary wildly—some have cracked porcelain heads atop plush, button-eyed bodies; others are clockwork hybrids with twitching gears and fabric limbs. Their movements are jerky and unnatural, yet disturbingly quick. Some carry sewing needles like spears, others small rusted blades or string to bind prey.
  2. Behavior: These dolls scuttle through the mansion’s shadowed halls in swarms, chattering softly in high, broken voices. They will stalk intruders, strike suddenly, and drag victims deeper into the mansion’s heart. They are fiercely protective of the Doll Maker and obey its will without question.
  3. Purpose: Those captured are not killed outright. Instead, they are bound, taken to the Doll Maker’s workshop, and slowly repurposed—flesh fused with gears, sinew stitched with fabric—to create a new kind of “toy.”
