You see it—matted fur stretched over rippling muscles, claws like jagged iron, and yellowed fangs jutting from its elongated snout. Its hunched back bristles with scars, and its glowing, beady eyes lock onto you.

Origins
The Rat-Ogre is a hulking, grotesque creature crafted through the dark alchemy and sinister ingenuity of Skrag society. Once ordinary ratfolk, they are force-fed Warp Potions until their bodies double in size and their minds deteriorate into near-mindless savagery. These beasts are both a curse and a weapon, revered for their brute strength but pitied or mocked for their shattered identities.

Appearance
A Rat-Ogre stands between 12 and 15 feet tall, its frame a grotesque amalgamation of swollen muscles and jagged bones, barely contained beneath patchy, matted fur. Its limbs are disproportionate—arms bulging with unnatural strength, claws sharpened to tear through flesh and metal alike, while its hunched back bristles with tufts of wiry hair. The face retains faint remnants of its rat origins, with an elongated snout lined with cracked, yellowed teeth, but its glowing, feral eyes betray the madness within.

Large scars and warped growths pockmark the creature’s body, with veins of sickly green pulsing beneath its fur—a side effect of the Warp Potion coursing through its veins. Its movements are erratic yet terrifyingly powerful, each step causing the ground to quake under its immense weight.

Behavior
Rat-Ogres are driven by primal instincts, fueled by an insatiable addiction to Warp Potions. Their minds are almost completely destroyed, leaving behind little more than animalistic rage and a slavish loyalty to the Skrag handlers who promise them more of the precious liquid. They thrive on chaos, charging into combat without fear or hesitation, battering through foes with sheer brute force.

In Skrag society, Rat-Ogres are treated as tools, often mocked by their smaller kin but respected for their effectiveness in battle. They are deployed in the most dangerous situations—fighting rival clans, breaking sieges, or acting as living battering rams during invasions. For all their might, these creatures are ultimately tragic, reduced to husks of their former selves in pursuit of a fleeting reward: a single drop of the Warp Potion that sustains their twisted existence.

Role in Skrag Society
In Skrag culture, Rat-Ogres are seen as tools of destruction rather than individuals. The Skrag sorcerers and alchemists take pride in their creations, viewing the Rat-Ogres as living proof of their mastery over the dark arts. Other Skrag treat them as both a source of fear and amusement, bullying the creatures relentlessly yet cowering when their rage is unleashed.

Rat-Ogres are particularly valued for their ability to cow rival Skrag or intimidate rebellious clans. In battles, they are often promised a taste of Warp Potion as a reward for victory, ensuring their loyalty despite their pitiful condition.

Creature Sub Type

Appearance

Skrags are humanoid rat-men, a grotesque blend of human and rodent features. Standing between four and six feet tall, their bodies are covered in patchy, matted fur of varying shades of brown and gray. Their elongated snouts, sharp teeth, and beady eyes give them a perpetually hungry and cunning look. With wiry, nimble limbs ending in clawed hands and feet, Skrags are well-suited for climbing and scavenging. A long, hairless tail trails behind them, often used for balance and manipulation of objects.

Origins and Evolution

Once a noble race of Ratfolk, the Skrags have devolved into their current state due to their addiction to a mysterious drug called "Warp.

" This substance has not only altered their minds but also their bodies, transforming them into diseased and twisted parodies of their former selves. Prolonged exposure to Warp has granted them a peculiar resistance to necrotic energies but left them vulnerable to holy or radiant powers.

Habitat and Behavior

Scavengers of the Desolate

Skrags are drawn to places of death and decay, such as graveyards, fallen battlefields, and abandoned barracks. These locations offer ample opportunities for scavenging shiny objects and remnants of value. Their obsession with anything that glimmers drives them to steal from even the most dangerous foes, including orcs, ogres, and occasionally, dragon hoards.

Nomadic Tunnels

Skrags inhabit complex tunnel systems and underground warrens, which they constantly expand and fiercely defend. These labyrinthine homes allow them to move swiftly and unseen, making it difficult for enemies to track or catch them.

Social Structure and Hierarchy

Wealth Equals Power

In Skrag society, the accumulation of shiny objects is the primary measure of status. The individual with the most wealth is considered the King of the Skrags.

However, this position is often short-lived, as other Skrags will stop at nothing—including theft and murder—to increase their own wealth and usurp the throne.

Anarchy and Competition

Skrag society is chaotic and cutthroat. Alliances are temporary and based solely on mutual benefit. The constant competition for wealth and power keeps the Skrags in a state of perpetual tension, where betrayal and backstabbing are commonplace.
