Challenge Roll

The term 
Challenge Roll encompasses the three main d20 rolls of the game: 
Essence Rolls, Attack Rolls, and 
Contesting Rolls. If something in the game affects a Challenge Roll, it affects all three of these rolls.
The Game Master or rules determines whether a Challenge Roll is warranted in any given circumstance.
