Disenchanting Inventory
Term

Disenchanting is a process in which creatures that are skilled in Enchanting can turn magical inventory into enchanting dusts.

The skill of the enchanter limits the maximum cost gp of an inventory that can be disenchanted:

  1. Each Enchanting Skill Tier * 1000 gp = Total Cost of Inventory for an caster to disenchant.

Example: A creature with 5 skill tiers in enchanting can disenchant up to a 5000gp item in disenchanting.

Very expensive inventory, or even artifacts might be beyond the skill of the enchanter to disenchant.

An enchanter can only disenchant inventory valued at 100gp or more, as items worth less yield insufficient dust. However, mundane or non-magical inventory can be materially broken down, potentially converting them into enchanting dust.

  1. The caster can only disenchant inventory one size category larger than themselves.
  2. The caster must possess the item to disenchant it. This prevents disenchanting stuff like doors and integrated locks.

The amount of dust received depends on the total cost, in gold pieces, of the inventory being disenchanted.

  1. A DC 10 Enchanting Skill Roll is made.
  2. If successful, the full cost is extracted from the inventory as dust.
  3. Upon failure, only 70% of the total cost gp of the dust can be extracted. There is always a small risk of loss of dust during disenchanting.
  4. On a roll of a natural 1, all dust is lost during the process, as the magic which binds the matter and magic is lost to the void.
  5. On a roll of a 20, magic is drawn from the Well of Creation, and the caster receives DOUBLE the enchanting dust.

The quantity of each dust type given is solved by a complex formula. This is a simple example:

Example: A 1000gp item is disenchanted. You would get 10 Dream Dust, 9 Vision Dust, and 1 Illusion Dust.

With enchanting dust the player or creature can use this to enchant objects or use recipes to enchant objects.
