A lone crow perches on your outstretched arm, its beak parting in a staccato chirp that echoes like splintering twigs. Feathers ruffle in the chill wind, black irises glinting with feral cunning as it tilts its head, wings half-unfurling to reveal oily sheens of midnight blue. The sound spirals upward, sharp and insistent, drawing shadows from the underbrush.
Crow chirplings are the most intelligent of chirplings. They concoct clever plans and solve problems that would outright stump most other chirplings. They’ve even learned to cast a few spells, and rumor has it that a few might have the capacity to become full-blown wizards in their own right.
This family of fey creatures each resemble various types of birds. To the untrained eye, their movements and actions might appear chaotic and random; in truth, they’re often cunningly coordinated. An individual chirpling isn’t necessarily a large threat as they’re only marginally stronger than the average person, but when they gather into flocks, they can rain terror down on the unsuspecting.
