Air thrums as wingbeats stitch tight circles overhead. Feathered backs flash; bare chests gleam pale and human-smooth. Beaked mouths split around knowing eyes. Thirty bodies pivot at once, talons flexing, formation collapsing into a single, shrieking dive.
Mockingbird chirplings enjoy mimicking the voices of creatures that they can hear. They treat it as an exciting pastime to cause havoc in homes and villages by imitating the sounds they hear. They are known to cause brawls and even generational feuds as a result.
This family of fey creatures each resemble various types of birds. To the untrained eye, their movements and actions might appear chaotic and random; in truth, they’re often cunningly coordinated. An individual chirpling isn’t necessarily a large threat as they’re only marginally stronger than the average person, but when they gather into flocks, they can rain terror down on the unsuspecting.
