Creature ancestries are the species packages creatures are built on — the creature-side mirror of a player character's ancestry. An ancestry owns its creatures' base movement (and often senses and innate abilities): a Dark Elf commoner and a Halfolk commoner move differently because their ancestries do. Creature templates, lineages, and other packages then enhance what the ancestry provides. See also groupings and the combined subtype list. Glossary: Creature Ancestry · Creature Compilation.
