Trap Abilities are the payloads a trap unleashes when its trigger goes off. The trap itself is the caster: there are no attack rolls and no essences — every contested effect rolls against the trap's single Trap DC (its Inspection DC).
A trap ability declares its trigger(s) (opening, touching, entering an area, a pressure plate…), its reset behavior (one-shot, manual, or timed via the duration fields), and whether the trap is mechanical or magical — which decides the tools needed to disarm it.
Because a trap has no stats, trap abilities must be self-contained: flat dice and fixed values only, never caster-scaled.
