In the the Ethereal Plane, the Shinigami, also known as Death Scribes, dutifully serve Edysus, the God of Travels. These otherworldly beings defy the conventions of earthly existence, soaring gracefully on ethereal wings. Some bear unconventional forms, lacking limbs, yet wielding the extraordinary power to inscribe destinies with nothing more than a fleeting thought.
Each Shinigami possesses a distinctive personality and intelligence, their existence centered around the somber duty of meticulously recording the inevitable demise of humans within the sacred Tomes of the Dead. These supernatural tomes serve as a macabre link between planes, bestowing upon the Shinigami the ability to extend their own existence by abbreviating the lives of others. Their formidable Death Eyes pierce the veil of mortality, allowing them to glean the names and lifespans of mortals whose faces they see.
These ethereal entities find themselves often revered by Death Cults, with some individuals daring to bargain with a Shinigami or even sell their own soul to gain control over the power of death in the mortal realm. Such negotiations may involve access to the Shinigami's Book of the Dead or the bestowal of the coveted Death Eyes, all while risking the forfeiture of half of their remaining life in the process.
