The crooked effigy looms, its bark-skin twisted in spiraling grain like a sapling dredged from muck, limbs elongated into hooked, splintered talons that snag the air. Blackwood fronds flare where a face should be, curling to swallow light and vomit it back in jagged shadows. Arms thrust as living branches, piercing flesh with wet cracks before yanking victims near; thorns on its torso flex and stab, drawing forth your own festering rot in sharp, blooming pricks.
Crooked effigies are servants of a twisted archfey known as the Crooked Queen. They are made of gnarled wood and show some bipedal and feminine features in their queen’s image. Crooked effigies impale their enemies with their branch-like arms and drag foes in close, where the thorns on their bodies carry the sting of a victim’s own corruption.

Crooked effigies are bound to the Old Ways, and they recoil from the tools of forging and tinkering— symbols of a growing civilization.
