The lengthy form of this massive serpent coils sinuously amidst the mists of the swamp, scales tinged with murky greens and browns, shimmering faintly in the dim light. Its skin bears the slick, slimy texture of the swamp, and the creature blends seamlessly into the shadowy waters. Its eyes, large and luminous, pierce through the gloom, the taint of evil glistening in those orbs. Ragged, leaf-like frills ripple gently along its back, aiding its silent, stealthy movement through the water. As the beast glides past, the only sound is a soft, haunting swish, seemingly a ghostly whisper in the stillness of the swamp.
Mirenthos Marshfang, often simply called the Marshfang, was once a denizen of Tearwick Sea and hailed from a proud lineage of benevolent sea serpents. However, when Mirenthos allied with a young fey named Thessalia and began to help her build a faction of mal-aligned fey, his community exiled him. With no home, Mirenthos gave himself whole-heartedly to his new work, and with his help, Thessalia founded the Vex’Mortem Fey and established herself as the Queen Below.
After the Queen’s initial conquests, Mirenthos made a lair in the depths of the Croaking Swamp and took on the surname Marshfang to suit his new nature. Over the decades, his bodily form transformed to match the darkness of his soul, and he took to temping members of other goodly races that dwelt in Tearwick Sea, promising them their hearts’ desires. Those who succumbed came to dwell with the Marshfang in the Croaking Swamp, where their forms, too, became twisted by the evil in their souls.
Now, the serpent slumbers, passing away its days in a deep sleep. However, the evil within Mirenthos can never sleep, and it forever whispers throughout his lair and the Croaking Swamp
