An 
Ability or Spell is limited by distance or Range.
Sometimes these 
Ranges are listed as a numerical value (always in feet), in other cases are are represented by an icon: FateTide Ranges can imagined as more Theater of the Mind (when no Battleboard of VTT is used), and be more abstract. When a VTT or battleboard is used, these Ranges can be translated into feet. When in doubt, or an idea of a measurement is almost there, the GM should allow the action to be permitted.
By default, unless specified by the Spell or Ability otherwise, the Target requires Line of Sight.
